Every September 30, since 1991, the world celebrates the International Translation Day, a date dedicated to recognizing and valuing the work of Translators and interpreters all over the world. In Xemant, we want to recognize this day, so we invite you to immerse yourself in the fascinating World of languages to marvel at the Linguistic diversity that exists on our planet and exalt the value of translation.
As you can imagine, the work of translation is a discipline that has existed since times that sometimes we cannot even calculate. From the oldest civilizations to the present day, translators have been key pieces in the communication between different cultures and societies, and it is thanks to their work, that we can currently enjoy literary works, films, television programs and news from all over the world as if we all spoke the same language.
But have you ever wondered what makes translation so special? Well, in addition to being a bridge that connects different languages, translation allows us to explore and understand other cultures. Through it, we can immerse ourselves in the history and curiosities of languages, to discover unique words and expressions that have no equivalent in our mother tongue. Did you know that in Japanese there is a word to describe the sunlight that filters through the leaves of trees? This word is ‘komorebi’. Or that in Sweden there is a term to designate the act of having a coffee and enjoying it with something sweet? This word is ‘fika’. These examples are just a sample of how languages can capture subtleties and unique experiences and transform them into linguistic manifestations or expressions.
In addition to all this, something very important that translation gives us is that it also allows us to preserve and transmit the history and culture of different communities. For example, through the translation of ancient texts, such as Egyptian hieroglyphs or medieval manuscripts, we can access knowledge and stories that would otherwise be lost forever in time.

Their work is essential to foster understanding and vision of the world with the aim of promoting respect between different cultures and societies.
